I am forwarding this e-mail I sent to a news reporter in Flint , about the wolf problem in the U.P. . Thought your members might like to see it. It started because I placed a thread on better beagling's site about  Wolves in the U.P. I know of a bear hunter that lost 6 hounds this year to wolves some where around Seney.

Subject: Wolves in Michigan

Hello Mike, my name is Tom Summers and I live in Montague Michigan,I am sending you this e-mail to voice my opinion on the releasing of wolves in the U.P.. I feel that it was and is the wrong decision due to the fact that we do not have the land mass needed to support the wolves without endangering live stock & pets.I do on occasion run my beagles in the U.P. and have not had any problems but it is always making me worry about the wolves as well as coyotes attacking my beagles.I do know of people that have lost hounds to wolves as well as coyotes in our state.I am an avid houndsmen I attend field trials for beagles and use to judge them as well. The topic of wolves in the state is brought up at almost every field trial with fellow beaglers voicing their concerns and worries.I have even heard rumor about them being in the Northern lower .There are even shirts that I have seen that say" GET ADDICTED TO A PACK A DAY. KILL THE WOLVES! I just recently heard of a houndsmen that I know that lost six hounds to wolves while legally hunting bear in the U.P. I am not the only person concerned, the deer hunters in the U.P. are also worried about losing all the deer because the wolves go into the deer yards in winter and kill them. Our D.N.R. has gone as far as turning a semi trailer of coyotes loose in the thumb area (Peck & Sandusky) to kill off some of the deer because we have too many. These are just my views an concerns with predators in the state. There are a few sites that you may go to that you can get others views and concerns as well I have listed below.
Thank You for your time and efforts.

Below is an email that was sent to me regarding wolves in Michigan. Tom thought it might be of special interest to us.  I thought it would be a great idea for winter to examine this issue here on the NMHA website.I created an avenue for us to share and voice our opinions, with many of us taking to the woods for hunting and running. Maybe with enough input, we can make the right decisions and help find a solution.
